Workshop on Leveraging existing backup deployments

The first event that INSIFT Confluence held was titled ‘Leveraging existing backup deployments’.  This was a one day workshop dedicated for the IT administrators and managers.  The workshop was focused on discussing the nuances of handling the backup and recoveries challenges faced by these organizations in this dynamically changing business environment.

The program covered basics of backup and recovery with newer features and functions available in the advanced products thereby helping those administrators to understand how they could better optimize their existing back up and implementation policies thereby having a more robust recovery strategy.

In the workshop there was a very strong emphasis put on the newer features and functionalities available with newer advancements which have taken place in the last few months and also which are going to be released in the near future. We also talked about how one can leverage the new technology developments by understanding new features, licensing policies, compatibility matrix for the newer platforms like Windows 2008 & Exchange 2007 thereby having a better investment plan.

We had a discussion on the integration of the technological breakthroughs of the next generation back up i.e. de-duplication to their existing back up strategy with optimal utilization of existing investment and resources. Other areas of thrust were optimizing the backup policies configurations, installations, series of better and faster recovery scenarios, disaster recovery scenarios, new devices like Virtual disk, libraries and backups in the VM Ware based virtual environments.

On the whole the workshop was targeted to help the IT administrators cope up well with the challenges faced by them on the day to day basis.

Furthermore, in the ever demanding professional life wherein the participants of the workshop i.e. IT administrators are virtually on jobs 24/7 to ensure smooth availability of IT support to business we thought of adding some lighter flavor to the workshop by mixing it with a session on “Self Development”. To conduct this workshop we invited one of India’s renowned personality architects – Ex Lieutenant Ms. Rita Gangwani (Faculty - Meyhar Bhasin’s Finishing & Modeling Academy with a vast experience of over 13 years in training everyone from 6 years of age to 60 – toddlers, executive professionals, housewives, aspiring model). She shared her words of wisdom on positive thinking, stress management and attitude towards life and she very rightly stated in her closing lines – “Ultimately, it’s not the years in your life, but the life in your years that matter”.

This full day workshop was attended by IT administrators and managers across organizations like Aricent, Bharti Airtel, Ernst & Young, Dabur, Spectranet, EXL Service, Indraprastha Apollo, RMSI, HECL, BSES, CMS Computers, InterContinental Hotels Group.
